Day 164: Chinook Pass

Mile 2308 to 2334

We had a nice big climb to start the day.  We were sluggish but whatever.  All morning we listened to hunters make elk calls off in the woods.  It’s bow season and we are seeing lots of them.  For lunch we came upon some trail magic at Chinook Pass from the parents of a previous thru hiker.  Sandwiches, watermelon, brownies, apples!

[Mt. Rainier; Officially; Feet up!; Chinook Pass; Trail dog!; Those views; That moon!]

Danger Dave was there, and his neighbor from Columbus happened to be near Seattle and came out for the day to hike.  We had awesome ridge views (after a ton of climbing), and I was able to talk with Liz for most of the afternoon.  Hawkeye and I are both feeling a bit run down, but still making decent miles and trying to beat the storm coming in a couple days!
