Day 173: Glacier Peak

Mile 2506 to 2529

Aw heck. I dunno. Today was our big climbing day. Most everything I have with me is completely soaked, including my sleeping bag which is as wet as it has been all trail. I was tempted to stop early in the morning when some sun speckled the mountainside, but as quickly as it appeared it was gone again.

We lunched way up high at a lake overlooking a glacier as well as a valley. On the other side of the valley you could see switchbacks going up the mountainside. Oh yes, you guessed it, that's our trail!

A few thousand feet down over 4 or 5 miles. A few thousand feet up over the same distance! Then down. Then up!  We ended at a splendid camp overlooking a valley and “glacier peak.” The sun showed through the clouds for a just a second, creating some fine fine iPhone pictures.
